So, having been to see Tinker Tailor on the weekend, and having now devoured the book, I seem to be rewriting the book (in bits!) to reflect movie canon for Peter Guillam.

THIS IS MY RETURN TO FIC. LORD HELP ME.

Also, does anyone want to talk to me about it? *winning smile*

*CLAP CLAP*

I also cannot handle how Guillam is pronounced in the film...so wrong to my French-Canadian bits!

Also: Have you read the other books yet? There is a lot of nosh in there about Peter.

I am still deeply confused as to what the pronunciation is! I mean, it's like St John... who the hell knows how the English come up with their bastardizations!

I haven't read anything else, tho I have perused his wiki entry and am disappointed that he gets a canon reset. BORING. Also, there is some ambiguity as to how much le Carre supports his original characterization? Benny C says that he chatted with the big LC and he [SPOILERS FROM HERE ON] supported the homogay interpretation, and may have even introduced it himself into the script?

JE NE COMPRENDS PAS. C'EST VRAIMENT CONFUSING, OKAY.

I guess they were putting a "w" in there -- that's what I heard on the clips w/ T. Hardy, at least. (It's still not here in the States, obvs.) I pronounce it "Gee-yom" (maybe?)...but that's just me!

I think LC is open to things that advance the narrative. That's how I've interpreted his reaction to various revisitings of his work.

Oh, I am terribly spoiled, no worries. :D

I think you're right. I also would naturally pronounce it as you type, and I get caught between what I heard and what I read. My brain, what.

I need to see the film again, yo. There's a critical scene I can't remember where it comes in the plot. I fear it may produce a giant plothole, tho... :///

Aside: you don't know anyone who's got a copy of the shooting script by chance?
