[livejournal.com profile] megolas is visiting for tea and musics and we are going through a stack of old NMEs. As you do on a Sunday evening...

From an old NME, 26 February 2005.

Oh Christ. The title says it all - more whining about girls from American wimps who seem to earn piles of cash out of making their emotional problems everyone else's business. At least bands like Finch and Thrice make a decent racket to accompany their sensitive-boy posturing but 'I'm Not Okay (I Promise)' is identikit emo with a double-speed Justin Hawkins guitar solo chucked in to complete the onslaught. The sooner someone confiscates MCR's adoslecent diaries the better.

1-2-3-LOL.

ETA: AHAHAHAHAHA, by the time we get the next single, NME says about Helena, "The most infectious and brilliant gothic pop you'll hear all year."

*laughs forever*

ETA 2:

25 June 2005

5/10 From Under the Cork Tree

Balk at the selling point, 'a big hit in America' because frankly so are Hilary Duff, the cinematic oeuvre of Vin Diesel, and capital punishment. And while this emo-by-numbers stuff isn't as heinous as the above three, does the world really need another Jimmy Eat World?

*dies laughing again*
