Okay, so I'm getting close to the end of a rly hellish end of term... thing, and one of the last things I have to do is a presentation tomorrow in class, and what do you know, I can't find any youtube videos that I need for it.

So, dear flist (and anyone else who's come along), can you help?

CAN YOU PLS DROP ME VIDEO LINKS TO ANY FORM OF STAGE GAY YOU CAN THINK OF, ANY TIME, ANY ARTIST?

I mean My Chem, them Panics at the Disco, Bowie, Springsteen, Prince, Muddy Waters, WHOEVER. Any and all examples gratefully sought! If you have knowledgeable people on your flist, I would be SO GRATEFUL if you could link them to me, or if you can think of somewhere comm-wise that it would be useful for me to post this self-same request, I WILL KISS YOUR FEET or DO YOUR DISHES or SOMETHING ELSE EQUALLY HUMBLY GRATEFUL.

I remain, yrs hopefully and faithfully,

One Stressed Grad Student.

I really wish I could make lj coding work. This is why I've had the same layout for years.

FANFIC CRITIQUE MEME

Unlikely to garner much interest, but if you wanted to let me know, I'd be glad to hear it!

Thanks for the coupon, [livejournal.com profile] siryn99!! Back among the land of the paid accounts... ♥ \o/

Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] bexless and [livejournal.com profile] zillahseye for the snowflakes! *snuggles you both*

In unrelated news, tonight I am reviewing the source material for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide and trying not to think about my [livejournal.com profile] popoffacork challenge fic. I just don't feel especially Christmassy as yet, despite the fact I've already had half my Christmas presents.

Maybe putting the tree up tomorrow will help? \o? At least I have [livejournal.com profile] _lolapalooza's santahat icons! :D

Things I love ridiculously at the moment include the following:]

Also, I'm going to New York in March? \o? Last time I was there, I was 3.

Albums of the year, in no particular order!

1. Vampire Weekend - Vampire Weekend

Even though they were a last-year band for me, I got the album for my birthday! Also I saw them twice this year, so.

2. Neon Neon - Stainless Style

The Easter album. Seeing 'them' live at the end of October was one of the gig highlighs of the year for me. Still can't listen to the album just once.

3. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

I can listen to this album over and over and over, because it's just so freaking amazing. Yes, I said 'freaking.'

4. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

It was a grower, just like Fleet Foxes, but wins for sounding just like what it is. I would holiday in this album. I'd say live in it, but it would be too sad.

5. Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Flight

So very Scottish. Such a good album, amazing band.

6. British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music?

Yes. Yes I very much do! Oddly, the midway point between the first two albums.

7. Cold War Kids - Loyalty to Loyalty

Not as instantly catchy as their first album, but filled with magic all the same.

8. Elliott Brood - Mountain Meadows

A late entry for this year, but so very worth it. I could listen to this over and over. I probably will.

9. Panic at the Disco - Pretty. Odd.

Listening to it now, it's definitely a spring album. It still makes me really happy, even now. So, it gets on the list.

10. Fall Out Boy - Folie a Deux

I love this album. Some songs more than others, but as an oeuvre, I think it's absolutely magic.

Honourable mentions:

Cobra Starship - Viva la Cobra

Properly fell in love with this album this year, so even though it was released last year, I'd call it a this-year album. Plus I got to see them four times this year. Magic.

Girl Talk

The mere existence of which makes me happy. No particular album, per se. THANK YOU JEN.

The Hold Steady - Stay Positive

Really solidly GOOD album, but when I'm not listening to them I tend to forget they're there. Whoops.

Rolling Stones - Hot Rocks

Obviously not a new album! But good god, I have loved that album this year!

What about the rest of you? What did you find that was any good this year?

Temporarily without phone at home, which means no internet. Cry for me, kids. :(

Hey, anyone wanna go see Metallica and Machine Head with me?

March, next year, O2.
miznarrator: (Ryan small and perfectly formed)
So, uh.

What do you do when a band you know and love--and with whom you have regular chats, at gigs--goes and jumps the shark, musically speaking?
